Zoom meeting – Friends of the Aurora Airport
May 7 @ 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Groups that support the Aurora State Airport (KUAO) will discuss current issues including status of the airport master plan, runway extension, obstacle removal, pavement improvement plans and other issues that contribute to the vibrancy of the airport and its many businesses.

Public Affairs Council (PAC) has worked with Friends of Aurora State Airport on legislative issues and PAC representatives Dylan Frederick and J.L. Wilson will moderate a panel to discuss KUAO current status and future plans.


Panelists include:

Betty Stansbury, Director, Oregon Department of Aviation
Josh Pruzek, AOPA Regional Manager
Tony Helbling, PAAM community outreach.  Wilson Construction
Bruce Bennett, Aurora Airport Improvement Association AAIA.  Aurora Aviaiton

Friends of KUAO include Positive Aurora Airport Management (PAAM) Aurora Airport Improvement Association (AAIA), Aurora Airport Owners Association (AAOA), users of the airport and business located at KUAO.

If you fly out of Aurora State or have an interest in its continuing positive benefits to aviation and the surrounding community you’ll want to get the latest update on activities,  issues and improvements at the airport.

Zoom meeting – Josh Pruzek, AOPA Regional Manager

Josh Pruzek is the Northwest Mountain Regional Manager for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) covering Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado. 

He is an active pilot, aircraft owner and FAA certified instrument and multi-engine flight instructor.  He is based in West Linn, Oregon and flies out of Aurora State KUAO.


In this CAA Zoom meeting, Josh will cover aviation issues including AOPA conferences, legislative issues, communications during covid19, Airport Support Network (ASN), AOPA publications, the RV10 Sweepstakes, FAA policy regarding deferred currency requirements and other issues that are of interest to pilots.

Josh has 24 years of professional experience in the General Aviation, Aerospace, Avionics, Marine and Defense industries with expertise in government affairs, sales, business development, business unit management, product management and program management. 

Following a Bachelors of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin, Josh spent 4 years as Dealer Sales Manager for Flightcom and then 3 years as a flight instructor and aircraft sales broker at Aurora Aviation. 

In 2003 he created and managed a division at Oregon Iron Works that was acquired by Vigor LLC where he then became Vigor’s Vice President of Sales and Business Development.  In 2019 he was selected to represent AOPA as the Northwest Mountain Region Manager following the retirement of his predecessor Warren Hendrickson.

Speaker Phil Derner is the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Western Regional Representative.  He covers AZ, NV, CA, HI, OR, WA, AK and will update us on business and commercial general aviation on the West Coast and across the country.  Phil has 15 years of experience in the aviation industry including airlines, aviation news, consulting, publications and public speaking.

Phil would like to make this an interactive discussion with lots of Q&A vs “Death by PowerPoint”.  Please bring your questions, comments and opinions.

The business aircraft industry is a dynamic component of our economy and it is becoming more popular and essential as airlines face current issues and it will be interesting to get an update and discuss trends.

Discussion of Kevin Padrick’s accident at Sunriver, Oregon

John Noordwijk, CFII, and past CAA President, will the discuss lessons learned from the accident at Sunriver.  John was a passenger with Kevin Padrick and will share the accident and aftermath.

The aviation community grieves all losses of our fellow pilots, but in the interest of safety and learning from the mishaps of others, we will examine accidents for causes and solutions.  Please join us with the intent to learn.
