Aug 17 @ 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm

The Navy League of the United States, Portland Council is renting the CAA clubhouse for their Quarterly Dinner. All CAA members are invited to attend.

The speaker will be Jake Jacobs, who has sailed on 5 cruises on the Eagle, most recently in Europe, talking about the history and current deployment of the Coast Guard tall ship USCG Eagle.

This ship was built in Germany in 1936 and taken as a war reparation by the USA in 1946.

It has been deployed for the last 72 years as the Coast Guard Academy’s cadet training vessel. The Eagle is based in New London Connecticut and most cruises are in the Atlantic out to 300 NM and in and out of Chesapeake Bay. It often sails to Europe and has also been on the west coast and in Portland in the past.

At ports of call the Eagle proudly raises the flag and provides open house tours, dignitary receptions and facilitates connections with civic and military leaders around the world as America’s Flag Ship.
