The Craziest Airshow Story You’ve Never Heard
Local aviator, sailor, and raconteur Larry Brandt will be our guest speaker on December 5, 2019. He will tell us a tale about his highly unusual and (fortunately?) abbreviated airshow career. He says the story is completely true, and I, for one, I believe him.
Larry is retired from Rockwell Collins – known today as the Collins Aerospace business unit of United Technologies, just down the road in Wilsonville – where he led the marketing and sales of the Head-Up Display in the business jet market worldwide. Prior to that he worked for many years with Collins, mostly in international sales. Before Collins, he was an airplane and helicopter salesman and demo pilot. He holds an FAA Commercial Pilot license for rotorcraft/helicopter and airplane single-engine land and an ATP for airplane multi-engine land. He is an American Sailing Association instructor for Advanced Coastal Cruising, Navigation, Marine Weather, and Radar. He and his wife operate a Catalina 36 sailboat named, of course, the S/V High Flight.
