Speaker: Dean Brown, Air Traffic Controller with FAA (presenting via Zoom from Avon, Indiana)
Dean Brown has been an air traffic controller since 1990, a pilot since 1982, and a flight instructor since 2006. He is currently spearheading an effort to drastically improve the way air traffic controllers are taught to respond to inflight emergencies. Because of his research, he has developed some new insights into how pilots can best respond to emergencies they experience whether they are talking to ATC or not, and he is an authoritative voice about what controllers do when a pilot declares an emergency. Dean will be speaking via Zoom for about 1 hour in which he will provide some important tips, interact with the audience during a simulated emergency scenario, and will invite feedback about some new ideas. Come join the conversation to both learn and to help improve how controllers might help others in the future
