Marc Cook, editor in chief of KITPLANES magazine, discusses the pros and cons of building your own airplane. What does it take in terms of money, time and personal commitment? He will offer an overview of Phase I flight testing and discuss some of the differences in flying and maintaining a homebuilt compared to a certified aircraft. Marc is a 4000-hour instrument-rated, multi-engine pilot with experience in more than 150 types. He has completed two kit aircraft, an Aero Designs Pulsar XP and a Glasair Sportsman 2+2, and currently flies a 2002 GlaStar in western Oregon (based at Twin Oaks Airpark).
