The Hidden History of Pearson Field: Martin Middlewood

About this event

Join us for a special presentation by historian and author Martin Middlewood, who will be discussing his book Hidden History of Pearson Field.

Martin explores the fascinating and little-known stories behind one of America’s oldest continuously operating airfields. From pioneering pilots to secret missions and community connections, his work sheds light on the rich aviation heritage of Pearson Field and its impact on local and national history.

This event is perfect for history lovers, aviation enthusiasts, and anyone curious about the hidden chapters of the Pacific Northwest’s past. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear directly from the author and discover the stories that time almost forgot.

Martin Middlewood is a writer, historian, and longtime resident of Vancouver, Washington, whose work centers on uncovering and preserving local historical narratives.  His newest work, Hidden History of Pearson Field (2025), delves into the lesser-known stories surrounding Pearson Field—considered one of the oldest continuously operating airfields in the U.S.—and in doing so connects aviation history with the community’s evolving heritage.
