Life in a C-5 Galaxy – Dr. Kristie Buckland
Dr. Kristie Buckland, Major (USAF), piloted Lockheed C-5 Galaxy cargo aircraft around the world for 10 years. Today she is an Assistant Professor at OSU-NWREC researching vegetable and specialty seed crops. She earned her BS in Aeronautical Engineering from the US Air Force Academy and her MS/PhD in plant science from Utah State University. Living in the last four years in Aurora, she is a current member of the North Marion School Board and has two children in the district.
Dr. Buckland will discuss her time in the USAF as a C-5 Aircraft Commander and Refueling Instructor Pilot, T37 Instructor and Evaluator Pilot, and T-6 Instructor Pilot. Kristie’s talk will provide an overview of experiences from missions including Presidential Support and air-refueling to training student pilots in fully aerobatic aircraft. Come see pictures and hear her stories of life during her tenure in the Air Force. Be prepared for a fun night of storytelling and Q&A.
