Ferry Flight of a DeHavilland Beaver

Ferry Flight of a DeHavilland Beaver
by Johnathan Buss

Johnathan Buss will be sharing a slideshow presentation covering his adventurous ferry flight of a DeHavilland Beaver on straight floats from Florida to Minnesota that he completed early this month.  He will be discussing the difficulties of fuel management without wheels, severe winds, and his amazing photos from along the way.

Johnathan Buss is based out of the Salem Airport, and is the current President & CEO of Buss Precision Mold Inc. based in Clackamas, Oregon. The company builds molds and dies which create plastic or aluminum parts used in many manufactured goods. There are a wide range of applications, from aircraft, athletic shoes/equipment, medical devices/disposables, knives, industrial, electronic, chip making, and so forth.

Mr. Buss obtained his Private Pilots License in 2013, and has flown 23 aircraft types since. He is currently working on his instrument and commercial ratings. He flies about 250 hours per year in several of his personal aircraft based in Salem, Sandy, and McMinnville, including a Cub Crafters Top Cub on 31" Bushwheels, an Aviat Husky A1-B on Amphibious Floats, a Cessna A185F, a Cessna A185F on Amphibious Floats, DeHavilland Beaver DHC-2 on 36" Bushwheels, and a Hughes 369HS (500C) helicopter
