My Experience Flying the B-52
Speaker: Dave Paselk, CAA Member
After graduating pilot training in December 1983, CAA Member Dave Paselk trained to fly the B52 at Castle AFB, and then flew at Grand Forks AFB June 1984-Dec 1986, Fairchild AFB, Jan 1987-Aug 1990, as an instructor at Castle AFB, Aug 1990-Jun 1994, and Minot AFB Jun 1997-Sep 1999 where he retired. He was an instructor pilot, flight leader and mission commander and had a staff tour at US Strategic Command, Offutt AFB Jun 1994-Jun 1997.
During his tour at Minot, May 1999, he was sent to Fairford England to support Operation ALLIED FORCE. There he flew 6 combat sorties and received THE DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS for leading the first strike against the most heavily defended airfield in Serbia and THE AIR MEDAL for continuing the mission after a catastrophic engine failure.
Dave will be talking about the B-52, its history, the nuclear mission, alert, the combat missions, and then what it was like to fly the mighty BUFF. He has a slide show presentation.
