Gliders of WWII

Speaker: Stephen Brenneke, CAA Member

Gliders were used first by the Germans with variable success.  Then the British and the Americans used gliders towed by twin engine bombers and released near the shore on some invasions or behind enemy lines in operations.  The success was variably tremendous to disastrous.  I will summarize the beginning of the program with discussion of the different operations.  Also I will  show videos of the gliders being towed and then released and subsequently landing.  Finally, I  will explore the pros and cons of their usage.
