Speaker Steve Bateman will discuss the array of weather products on portable devices and in general aviation cockpits. Near real time graphical and textual weather products may contribute greatly to pilot situational awareness and decision making, but we must be fully aware of the limitations and capabilities of the data source, display equipment, and the information provided, to really benefit from this technology.
Monthly Pancake Breakfast
The EAA-105 Chapter sponsors a monthly pancake breakfast, open to everyone! It’s on the first Saturday of every month at Twin Oaks Airpark.
Begun by the Chapter in 1994 to raise funds for the construction of a hangar, our monthly breakfast has become a local tradition. Folks from all over the Northwest come by car and by air to enjoy our breakfast, walk the flight line, and talk airplanes. When good weather prevails it’s common to have over thirty aircraft fly in including a heavy contingency of RVs.
The menu is simple: scrambled eggs, blueberry pancakes, strips of bacon or breakfast sausage, grits, orange juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate.
Rain or shine, holidays or not, breakfast will be served the first Saturday of every month. The hangar door to the dining hall opens at 8:00 AM. The line can get noticeably long by 9:00 AM, with many regulars showing up by 7:30 AM to avoid the crowds. The hangar door to the dining hall is usually closed by 10:00 AM, but if you’re in line by then, you’ll be served. No one goes away hungry!
The Presentations committee will the 2nd Thursday of the month, at 5:00 pm, just prior to the Board meeting. This is an open meeting. Any member can attend and offer suggestions. The more involvement the better the presentations.
Dean(o) “Speedolips” Koehler will talk about his Navy flying experiences, carrier flight ops, and hopes for a lot of Q&A. He will touch on his Alaska Air flying time if time permits.
